GFS in the Community

In keeping with our constitution, we respond positively to opportunities to contribute to community initiatives.

We have organised family screenings during Godalming's Staycation:

  • "Up" in 2010
  • "Toy Story 3" in 2011
  • "The Grufallo" and "Hugo" in 2012

We have also supported other community organisations within the Godalming area who wished to use film to promote their activities:

  • "My Fair Lady" in 2011 for the Godalming Combined Churches "Old Persons Film and Tea Party"
  • "A Night to Remember" in 2011 for Waverly Borough Council's Titanic Centenary celebrations

And for Godalming Woolsack Rotary Club we screened:

  • "Les Miserables" in 2014
  • "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in 2015
  • "The Thomas Crown Affair" in 2016

In 2015 we established a film award initiative for new local filmmakers; please CLICK HERE for more information about GFS Film Awards.

Since 2017 we have sponsored concerts at the Music in the Park,  arranged by the Godalming Town Council.

Finally, to celebrate our 10th season, we held the first ever Godalming Film Festival (GFF) 15 – 19 August 2017.  GFF is now a firm fixture on the Godalming community calendar!
