Press Release - December 5th 2007

Godalming's newly founded Film Society has received a great boost for its future. The society, currently with 200 paid-up members, has just received much sought after financial support from the National Lottery "Awards for All". This award of £5,170 will enable the society to buy high quality projection equipment for its future programme.

"We've made a wonderful start since September," said chairman John O'Keefe, "helped by an inaugural grant from Godalming Town Council. Our membership shows there is a real interest in film and the film society is enlivening and enriching the cultural life of the town."

Although almost fully subscribed, there's room for a few more members before the house full sign goes up. Membership costs £30 and entitles members to 16 films for the full season. Screenings are on Tuesdays at 7.45pm in the Borough Hall Godalming. Membership details are available from Godalming Film Society at the society website www.godalmingfilmsoc.org.uk or 01483 428560.
